“The Civil War was not just fought in the East and South. It also was fought in the West -- way, way in the West. On April 15, 1862, near Tucson in what was then Arizona Territory, a small band of Union soldiers skirmished against about 200 Rebels. Two Union soldiers were killed and one was mortally wounded at Picacho Pass, in the shadows of the Picacho Mountains. The Rebels suffered no casualties.”
